This Midwest city ranks as the best place to retire in the US — Frankfort Health news

When you think of the nation’s most popular places to retire, warmer climates might come to mind. But the country’s best place to retire is anything but warm for much of the year, and it’s not the first time the community has earned the honor. Midland, Michigan, took the top spot on U.S. News and World Report s list of the 250 Best Places to Retire in the U.S. in 2027. Located in the central part of the state, Midland has roughly 42,000 residents and is best known as the longtime home of Dow as well as for its walkability, access to nature and economic strength. It marks the second year in a row Midland has claimed the top spot. To determine the rankings, U.S. News and World Report evaluated 859 cities across the country, considering factors such as housing affordability, state tax burdens, happiness and access to top-notch health care to determine where retirees get the best quality of life for their money. Cities were evaluated using data from Applied Geographic Solution
