La Salle County flood plan review keeps insurance discount for unincorporated homeowners — Frankfort Community news

Homeowners with flood insurance in unincorporated La Salle County save about 10% a year on their policies through the county’s part in a FEMA program, according to the county. The county has a Class 8 rating in FEMA’s Community Rating System, a voluntary program that rewards floodplain management practices exceeding the minimum requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program, the county said.To earn credit for one of the program’s activities, the county must review its flood mitigation strategies each year and give public notice through a news release. That review was completed Nov. 4, 2026, according to the county. The updated 2026 strategies and other flood mitigation resources are posted on the county’s floodplain page at lasallecountyil.gov/393/Floodplain.
